Angeles National Forest
- "is the backyard playground to the huge metropolitan area
of Los Angeles. It covers over 650,000 acres and is one of 18 National
Forests in California- one of 156 in the nation. Established by
Executive Order in December, 1892, the watersheds within its boundaries
are managed to provide valuable water to southern California and
to protect surrounding communities from catastrophic floods".

Forest
Klamath National Forest
- "you can fish in over 200 miles of rivers and streams,

Lassen National Forest
- "lies at the heart of a fascinating part of California, a crossroads
of people and nature. This is where the Sierra Nevada, the Cascades,
the Modoc Plateau and the Great Basin meet".
Los Padres National
Forest - "encompasses nearly two million acres in the beautiful
coastal mountains of central California. Stretching almost 220 miles
from the Carmel Valley area to the western edge of Los Angeles County,
it provides the scenic backdrop for many communities including Big
Sur, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ojai".
Mendocino National
Forest - "straddles the eastern spur of the Coastal
Mountain Range in northwestern California, just a three hour drive
north of San Francisco and Sacramento. The Forest is approximately
65 miles long and 35 miles across, consisting of one million acres
of mountains and canyons which offer a variety of recreational opportunities-
camping, hiking, backpacking, boating, fishing, hunting, nature
study, photography, and off highway vehicle travel. The only
one of California's 18 national Forests not crossed by a paved road
or highway...".
Modoc
National Forest - "consists of 1,979,407 acres of which
1,654,392 acres are administered by the Modoc National Forest. Elevation:
The elevation ranges from 4,300 feet to 9,934 feet above sea level".
Plumas National
Forest - "covers over a million acres of tree covered
mountains, filled with hundreds of high alpine lakes and thousands
of miles of clear running streams. The Plumas National Forest's
headwaters flow into Lake Oroville, part of the California State
Water System".
Shasta-Trinity
National Forests - 'located in central northern California.
The Shasta-Trinity is home to Mt. Shasta, Castle Crags, the Trinity
Alps, spectacular forests, Whiskeytown - Shasta-Trinity National
Recreation Area, Trinity River, and many other natural wonders".
Six Rivers National
